Until now, OneCal worked with Google Calendar, Outlook, and iCloud Calendar. Many of you asked us to support CalDAV calendars, and we delivered. Starting today, you can connect any calendar that supports CalDAV, such as Fastmail, Yahoo, and more.

This release is a big one, because CalDAV is not the only thing we released today. The Unified Calendar View now supports more than one time zone. You can also drag and drop events, undo your changes, and pick one default calendar for new events and new booking links. There are many more improvements that make OneCal the most reliable calendar management platform on the market.

Connect any CalDAV calendar

CalDAV is an open standard for calendars, and most email and calendar providers support it. You can now connect a CalDAV calendar to OneCal in the same way you connect a Google or Outlook calendar.

Go to Calendars, click Connect Calendar, and choose Connect CalDAV Calendar.

The new Connect CalDAV Calendar option is next to Google, Outlook and iCloud Calendar.

Connecting a CalDAV calendar is usually harder than connecting Google Calendar or Outlook, because you need a server URL and other details. We know this is a pain point, so you don't have to find the server URL for most CalDAV providers. You can choose your provider from the list, and OneCal fills in the server address for you.

OneCal available CalDAV providers
You pick your provider, and OneCal fills in the server address. For any other server, you choose Other CalDAV server.

If your provider is not on the list, choose Other CalDAV server and paste your server address.

Next, enter your email address and an app-specific password. Most providers ask you to create an app-specific password for apps like OneCal. This way, you never share your main password. For popular providers, OneCal shows a link to the page where you can create this password.

In this screenshot, Fastmail is selected as a CalDAV provider. OneCal has already filled in the server address, and the link opens the Fastmail page for app passwords.

After you connect your CalDAV calendar to OneCal, it works like any other calendar in OneCal. You can use it in Calendar Sync, in the Unified Calendar View, in booking links, in the AI Assistant, and more.

You can also connect a CalDAV calendar from the OneCal mobile app. It works in the same way as on the web.

In case you missed last week’s post, booking links now have three layouts. Your guests can switch between them with the buttons at the top right of your booking page.

The Monthly layout shows a calendar for the month. It also shows the open times for the day your guest picks.

The Weekly layout shows a full week, like your own calendar. Times that are not available are shaded.

The Column layout shows the open times for several days side by side. It is the fastest way to compare days and pick a time.

You choose which layout your guests see first. Open your booking link, go to Appearance, and set the Default Layout. You can read more in the booking link layouts guide.

Overlay my calendar

Guests often switch between your booking page and their own calendar to find a good time. With Overlay my calendar, they do not need to do this. When a guest turns it on, OneCal shows their own events on your booking page.

OneCal Booking Links - Calendar Overlay
When Overlay my calendar is on, the guest sees their own events next to your open times.

In the Column layout, each time has a colored dot. A green dot means the guest is free. A red dot means the guest already has an event at that time.

A green dot means the guest is free, and a red dot means the guest is busy.

Guests who do not use OneCal yet need to sign in first. This lets OneCal see when they are free or busy. The overlay is private. Only the guest sees their own events, and the host of the booking link never sees them. You can read more in the Overlay my calendar guide.

Multiple time zones in the Unified Calendar View

If you work with people in other countries, you can now show more than one time zone next to your calendar. Click the + button above the time column and search for a city.

You can also give each time zone a name, like the city or country it belongs to. This makes it easy to see which column is which.

The calendar shows two time zones. One is named Japan and the other is named Bali.

Click a time zone name to change the time zone, rename it, make it your main time zone, or remove it. A name can have up to 12 characters. If you leave the name empty, OneCal shows the short name of the time zone, like GMT+8.

When you click a time zone name, you can change the time zone, rename it, make it your main time zone, or remove it.

Extra time zones also work in the mobile app. To add them, open Settings in the app and go to Time zones.

You can read more in the time zones guide.

Drag and drop, and undo

You can now move an event by dragging it to a new time or day. You can also drag the bottom edge of an event to make it longer or shorter.

After every change, OneCal shows a message with an Undo button. You have 10 seconds to undo a move, a resize, an edit or a delete. Undo also works for recurring events and for single events in a recurring series.

View settings and other Calendar View improvements

The settings button at the top of the Unified Calendar View now has view settings. You can show or hide weekends, and you can show week numbers. Each option also shows its keyboard shortcut, so you can learn the shortcuts as you go.

You can show or hide weekends with one click. You can also press Shift + W.

Pick one default calendar

You can now choose one default calendar for your whole account. New events in the Unified Calendar View go to this calendar. New booking links use this calendar too.

To set it, go to the Calendars page. Open the menu on any calendar and click Set default. A star shows which calendar is your default.

OneCal Set Default Calendar
Click Set default on any calendar. The star shows your current default calendar.

Your default calendar is now the same on the web and in the mobile app. If you change it in one place, it changes in the other place too. In the app, you can set it in Settings under Default calendar.

You can read more in the default calendar guide.

ICS invitations in booking confirmations

Some calendar providers, like iCloud and most CalDAV servers, do not send invitations to your guests. When someone books a meeting with you, the event is added to your calendar, but your guest does not get it in their calendar.

Booking links now have a new option called Include ICS invitation in confirmation. You can find it under Advanced tab in your booking link settings. When this option is on, OneCal adds a calendar invitation to the confirmation email. If the booking is rescheduled, your guests get an updated invitation. If the booking is cancelled, your guests get a cancellation.

OneCal Booking Links - ICS Invitations
You can turn on ICS invitations under the Advanced tab. This option is already on for new booking links that use an iCloud calendar.

This option is on by default for new booking links that use an iCloud calendar or CalDAV Calendar. If your booking link uses a CalDAV calendar, we recommend that you turn it on. If your provider already sends invitations, OneCal warns you before you turn it on. This way, your guests do not get the same event twice.

A big update to the mobile app

Until now, you needed the web to create or edit calendar syncs and booking links. Now you can do this, and much more, from your phone.

Calendar Sync

  • You can now create a new calendar synchronization in the mobile app.
  • You can edit a calendar sync and change which calendars it uses.
  • You can duplicate a calendar sync to create a new one with the same settings.
  • When a calendar sync fails, the app now shows you why.

Booking links

  • You can now create, edit and duplicate booking links in the app.
  • You can change every part of a booking link in the app. This includes the general setup, availability, hosts, limits, questions, advanced settings, appearance and workflows.
  • You can create private links and set prefilled fields.
  • You can edit your booking page. This includes your username, description, brand color and social links.
  • You can create and edit availability schedules, including your weekly hours and date exceptions.
  • You can create and edit workflows, which send automated emails for your bookings.

Also new in the app

  • You can connect CalDAV calendars, show extra time zones, and set your default calendar, as described above.
  • You can upload images, for example a cover image for your booking page.
  • Connecting a calendar from the app is now more secure.
  • The app now shows important news from the OneCal team on the home screen.
  • If you try to leave a form without saving, the app now asks you first.

To get all of these features, please update the OneCal app to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.

Other improvements and fixes

Booking links

  • Open times now include bookings that are still waiting for your approval. This means two people cannot request the same time.
  • You can no longer cancel or reschedule a booking that already happened.
  • OneCal now checks email addresses when guests book a meeting and when you change your email.
  • The Weekly layout no longer shows open times at the wrong hour for guests in other time zones.
  • If you try to leave your booking link settings without saving, OneCal now asks you first.
  • Setting up booking links for the first time is now simpler. OneCal helps you pick your booking page username, and it creates a few booking links to get you started. This also works in the mobile app.

Calendar Sync and calendars

  • When you pause or resume a sync from the sync details, OneCal now always changes the right sync.
  • When you reconnect a Google or Microsoft calendar, OneCal now lets you pick the account. It also fills in the right email address for you.
  • Team audit logs now show when a calendar connection expires and when it is reconnected. They also show when a sync fails and when it is fixed.

Everything else

  • Time zones in Mexico and British Columbia now follow the latest official rules.
  • If your browser uses the UTC time zone, you can now finish onboarding.
  • Login, team invitations and Zoom connections now show a clear message when something goes wrong.
  • If you are not logged in and you open a link that does not exist, you now see the correct page.
  • When a plan change fails, OneCal now tells you why.
  • In our API, the time slots endpoint now uses the correct date range by default.
  • We fixed some mistranslations in the web app and the mobile app.
